The legendary hardcore platformer Super Meat Boy, released in 2010, was long thought impossible to perfect completely. Yet speedrunner shredberg achieved the unimaginable: he finished the game at 106% completion without a single character death.
The feat involved conquering not just the main worlds but every bonus level too—essential for max completion. While others had shown deathless runs of individual worlds (earning in-game achievements), a full sequence of all content without dying remained an unbeatable challenge.
Shredberg detailed his preparation: around 700–800 hours of intense practice for the final two-hour run. He estimates dying over 100,000 times. Only after countless attempts did he nail the perfect run, showcasing incredible precision and stamina.
The game’s creators took notice. Edmund McMillen, a lead developer, congratulated the speedrunner on social media with a simple but powerful: “Congrats! You are awesome”.
